There’s something about printing out a manuscript that is incredibly satisfying. Months of work, the accumulation of hours and hours each day, have gone into creating this story. But it’s all been intangible, stored in bits and bytes on a computer chip, seen only by me.
Now it’s taken on a physical form. Four hundred actual pieces of paper, numbered and divided into chapters. The pretty colors in the photo are cover sheets for each chapter. These are part of the system I will be using to revise—a series of tools developed by Jennie Nash, whose company, Author Accelerator, matches writers and book coaches.
I’m so excited to dig into this phase of the writing process. I will be sharing my revision experiences here on my blog.
Revision kicks off with a bang. I will be working with Jennie Nash to evaluate my manuscript and set up a revision plan. After that, I’m on my own! I’m so grateful to have this opportunity to work with Jennie and set a clear path forward.
I hope you can join me on my journey. Do you have any experience with revising a novel? I would love to hear your thoughts!
My work with Jennie is supported in part by the Maryland State Arts Council (msac.org).
I love how even your drafts, the simple organization I often think of as grueling, is beautiful! I’m so glad I’ve checked out this blog to follow this journey more closely!
Thank you, Kristin!
