Pile On the Layers of Fall

I’m happy to report that my September efforts to establish a new schedule have yielded some measure of success. I can’t say that my sleep schedule has totally adjusted—getting up at 5:45 am does not come naturally to this night owl. But I will keep working on that.

Even though my new routine doesn’t fit my stay-up-all-night inclinations, it does have built-in accountability, because I need to make sure my son gets to school on time. And despite the bad hours, I enjoy having a regular schedule. 

So, on to October. Now that I’ve mostly adjusted to school being back in session, it’s time to buckle down to my own work, namely writing. Though right now, writing means everything but. I’m working to get certified as a book coach, revising my novel, and dipping my toes into writing a query letter—so no actual drafting beyond this blog.

Looking at my intentions for the month brings to mind layers, each layer a different flavor of work. So that’s my bullet journal theme this month, along with some fall vibes.

Cover

My cover depicts layers, from the moon and clouds, down to a covering of fall leaves over the earth beneath us. In the earth section, I included a simple tracker.

Calendar

I think the calendar is my favorite spread this month. Inspired in part by Plant Based Bride and her design for her husband’s October bullet journal, it features a raven looking at the moon. Despite the cool colors, it warms me up inside. I like the way the layers stack up, each supporting the other. The quote (from Ellen DeGeneres) says, “ It’s our challenges and obstacles that give us layers of depth and make us interesting.”

Projects

My projects page features a pumpkin and shifting layers below. I suppose this is fitting for a page where I list the things I hope to accomplish. For sure, these goals and priorities will shift throughout the month. This spread includes three quotes:
