Words and Imagination. I had planned to travel to a new imaginary location in my bujo from June to December 2020. But then I decided to participate in the NaNoWriMo challenge of writing 50,000 words in a month (sort of—more about my own challenge here.) To focus more time on writing, I made my bullet journal spreads simpler this month, opting for washi tape instead of drawings.
In the image above you can see the old iTunes card that I use to cut my washi tape, a trick I learned on YouTube, though I don’t remember the exact source. After rolling out the tape, you just push the card onto the end of the washi tape you want to cut, and pull the roll up with a quick angled tug. It’s quick and usually less fuss than scissors.
My monthly spread is pretty basic. I love the way the simplicity of the layout highlights the beauty of one of my favorite washi tapes. I also love how quick this spread was to put together.
For my projects spread I used my usual layout, as with my other spreads. It’s taken me a while to find standard layouts that work for me, but it makes setup more fun. I can focus on doodling, or just throw it together quickly as I did this week.
I usually set up all my weekly layouts ahead of time. I used to do them week by week, but found this was too stressful. Each week I had a pressing deadline to get the next week ready. Now I just group all the weeklies before the dailies and set them up at the same time as the rest of the month’s spreads. Then I use paperclips to quickly turn to current pages. This weekly spread (the last one in November, though it’s mostly December dates) highlights more beautiful washi tape, with the letters reflecting the messy lines that form the faces.
