Happy Halloween!
For many writers Halloween is a holiday, yes, but also the last day to get it together for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).
As of today, it’s official. I’ve announced my NaNoWriMo project and I have a plan. I’m totally going rebel, setting revision goals instead of trying to write 50,000 words of a new novel.
The Plan
My new outline includes 31 scenes. I plan to get Scene Cards written for all of them. Twenty of those scenes are brand new, and I’m hoping to write 14 of them in November, then keep going in December. I’ve tried to set challenging, but reasonable goals to build momentum without stressing myself out.
I’m always tweaking the synopsis of my novel, and since I had to post one with my project announcement, here’s the latest version. Let me know what you think—any and all (respectfully expressed) opinions are welcome!
Growing up in a circus, Jacquard feels like she doesn’t belong anywhere, even though she loves the woods that surround the circus wherever it goes. One day, the greenness that transforms her into a monster in the woods won’t fade. Jacquard can’t hide anymore. She learns that everything she believed about her past is a lie. In her search for answers, she’ll fly with hawks, discover mist-shrouded islands, and perhaps make her first true friend. But greenness is being used for evil purposes, and Jacquard’s quest for the truth makes her the target of a tyrant who could destroy her and any hope she’s ever had of finding home.
